Bio:  Rabbi/Cantor Arnold Saltzman

 

 

Rabbi/Cantor Arnold Saltzman is the Rabbi of Beit Chaverim in Prince Frederick, Maryland. In addition, he is director of Religious Education. Gifted and energetic, Rabbi Saltzman has thirty years experience participating in the fields of religious and music education. He conducts our services and spiritual functions associated with the practice of Judaism. He is successful at connecting meaningful educational programs with religious services. Counseling individuals and groups, he has provided spiritual leadership for us and also at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington during his Chaplaincy Internship.

 

He has trained both adults and children for Bar/Bat Mitzvah as well as conducting services for them, and he has extensive experience conducting weddings, funerals, and confirmations. He also serves as Associate Rabbi and Educational Director of Hevrat Shalom in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Chair in Jewish Music of Adas Israel Congregation, Washington, DC where he has served as Hazzan for 24 years.

 

Well known as a Rabbi/Cantor, singer, composer, youth choir director, and educator, he has lectured at the Smithsonian, the Kennedy Center, and the National Cathedral. His credits include many recordings, videos, and television broadcasts.

 

He holds degrees from Brooklyn College, Columbia University Teachers College, the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and has studied in the Rabbinic program of the Academy for Jewish Religion and the Rabbinical Seminary International.

 

He has received many Solomon Schechter Awards and foundation grants for innovative synagogue programming. He is married to director/actor/singer Carol Nissenson, and they have two sons:  Michael and Josh.
